Felt making for beginners and improvers.

Felt is the oldest fabric known to man, today its is loved for its decorative qualities both in crafting and fashion.
On this course learn how to make felt using fine merino fibres, we will be making pictures, a 3d bowl and nuno felting.
Perfect for beginners or those wanting to brush up their felting skills.

The course will be broken down into four parts each day covering a different technique.

Week one will introduce you to the method of felt making how to lay the fibres down and making a picture, then come the technical stuff wetting, soaping, felting and fulling your piece until it has formed into a wool fabric.
Week two will be looking at pre-felts using lots of colour you will make a variety of pre felts then cut them out and make a picture note book cover.
Week three- try your hand at making a bowl using a resist turn a flat piece of felt into a 3d decorative bowl.
Week four try your hand at nuno felting.
Materials can be bought in the shop 4 Market Place, Garstang or on the day from Linda

  • What do I need* Large towel 24 × 24inch square of bubble wrap x 2 24 inch square of tulle netting small plastic bowl (margarine tub) 1 litre, size empty plastic milk carton with small holes punched in the lid, (a cork screw is good for hole making) a carrier bag waterproof apron lunch If you have your own bamboo mat for rolling felt bring it along. If you have your own merino fibres you are welcome to use them.

A beginners kit is available to buy from the High Street shop for £10 which includes bamboo mat bubble wrap and netting.

Booking for all workshops is essential to avoid disappointment.

Please contact Linda either via email or phone to confirm there is a place available for the workshop you wish to attend. Your place will then be reserved for 10 days whilst you arrange payment either by cheque or BACs payment.

Creative Thread Workshops reserves the right to cancel a workshop if insufficient numbers enrol – we will either return your payment or offer an alternative date.

Payment is non-refundable if you cancel within 2 weeks of the workshop date. We will try our best to fill your place, if we do we will refund your payment or you can use your payment towards a future booking.
